The Football League Cup is the official name of the Carling Cup. Played on a knockout basis, and unlike the FA Cup, only the 92 teams of the FA Premier League and the Football League can enter. Super 14 is a Rugby Union championship involving club or provincial teams from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The Super 14 is a round-robin competition structured so that each team plays every other team through games held each weekend for 14 weeks. The top four teams at the end of the round-robin phase advance to play in the semi-finals.

The EDF Energy Anglo-Welsh Cup is the English Rugby Union knock-out Cup competition allowing entrants from all members of the Rugby Football Union. The sixteen clubs are placed in four pools with three English clubs and one Welsh club. Within the pools, every team plays each other once, with the winners of each of the four pools progressing to the semi-finals.

The Currie Cup is a South African Provincial Championship and is run by the South African Rugby Football Union. The top four teams with the most points will play against each other in a semi-final. The winners of the respective semi-final matches will play in the Currie Cup Final.

Gaelic Football looks like a mixture of soccer and rugby but Gaelic Football actually predates both games. The ball used in Gaelic Football is round and similar to a soccer ball, but slightly smaller in size. Per game regulations, the ball can be carried in the hand for a distance of four steps and can be kicked or hand-passed. After every four steps, the ball must either be bounced or dropped onto the foot and kicked back into the hand. The ball may never be bounced twice in a row.
